It was New Year's Eve Holby land and the message being put across was one of hope - hope that the new year can make you a better person.
On Darwin, Guy was using his position to make Zosia work with him on a case despite her protestations; this led to Zosia finding out that Guy knew about her mum's cancer returning and that they were going to tell her on her mum's birthday but because she was stressed with her exams both Guy and Zosia's mum decided against it meaning Zosia didn't get the chance to say goodbye before her mum passed away. Later on in the episode, Zosia, in a very unprofessional move, had a go at Guy in front of his patient's visitor. Colette telling Guy he has to treat Zosia like any other employee which resulted in Guy suspending Zosia for the rest of the week meaning she couldn't start her Psyche rotation.
Keller ward had it's own drama's with Serena returning back to work after the embarrassment that happened last week. The first obstacle she had to overcome was everyone offering their sympathies for the situation; the second was whilst she was in theatre and missed the fact the patient on the table had a tear in his bladder - Serena was all for removing the patients spleen until Ric came in and stopped her resulting in Serena leaving the theatre mid way through the operation.
On AAU, another old face returned to the ward - Pat the alcoholic who Mary-Claire helped treat a few weeks ago. It was Mary-Claire who found Pat lying outside underneath the big Christmas tree. When Pat came around, he became agitated as he was missing his bag. Harry went looking for it and when he found it, found a dog inside. Harry smuggled the dog into the hospital much to the delight of Pat; however, it soon turned out the poor dog was feeling unwell which meant Mary-Claire and Harry had to work together to try and work out what was wrong and treat it. This they did and then made the draw for the raffle (Harry was meant to be selling the tickets but passed the job onto a nurse); Harry, who throughout the episode was trying to redeem himself in Mary-Claire's eyes, rigged the draw so that Pat one (the prize was £100). By the end of the episode it looked like the pairs friendship was back on track as they saw the new year in together.
So what did you think? Why not let us know your thoughts.....
