Well this week, we had two members of staff leave (one we knew about, the other was a bit of a shock) as well as a big reveal.....
Not much to report from AAU, other than every time Mary Claire found herself in a situation with Edward, the new head of nursing - Collette - would suddenly appear and make a comment which would leave Edward running off!! Although she's not been in the show for very long, I actually quite like the character. A no nonsense lady who not only will stick up for her staff, she also stands up to bullies.
Over on Darwin, Elliot was feeling sorry for himself after last week's failed operation; seeing his mortality rates seemed to be higher than everyone else's didn't help matters either. He ended up in a confrontation with Guy Self, that led to the big reveal (but you'll have to watch the episode if you want to find out what it is). There was a lovely scene between Jac and Elliot with Jac pretending to be ill in order to get Elliot back into theatre; there was also a very touching scene between Elliot and Zosia (another character who I have warmed too).
The main action took place on Keller. A patient of Michael's appeared on the ward in desperate need of a liver transplant. He arrived on the ward just as Michael found out that Sacha has told Gemma she's to shadow Michael for the day (Michael really was not pleased about this). However, Gemma got stuck in and seemed to be doing a god job of finding a liver for the patient. Unfortunately for Gemma, her mind wasn't really on the task in hand which meant that the liver she found and got sent to Holby General was the wrong blood type for the poor patient. This led to her making the decision that she needed to leave the hospital (much to the disappointment of many 'Hemma' fans out there) so she could spend more time with her son.
The shock exit was that of Michael, who after performing the liver transplant on the patient (he used the boy's father's liver), he then got punched in the face by Sacha and then got called to Guy's office to be told he was being suspended for three months for going against procedure, though Michael managed to get him to agree to it being a sabbatical rather than a suspension.
And on that note, that's my review. What did you think of this week's episode.....??
