So this week's episode was a goodbye to one character and hello to a brand new one, all whilst a MAJAX (major incident) took place.
This was Malick's swan song episode and what a way to leave. He is still struggling with the fact that his hand is still not functioning in the way he wants it to and his resentment towards Digby is all to clear to everyone. With Jake now working at the hospital, Hanssen sending letters to Malick inviting him to teach with him, and the MAJAX occurring with all hands on deck, this week was a stressful one for Antoine. One of the first major obstacles for Malick was, whilst on the ward with a patient, another patient went into 'arrest'; Malick was first on the scene but due to his injured hand was unable to perform chest compression's. So, feeling inadequate, he called for Digby to come, then left him to it. The second one (and the one that sealed Malick's fate at Holby) involved a patient who was involved in the MAJAX needing to go to CT and needing to have a chest drain put in; Malick performed the procedure , but due to obvious reasons, didn't do a good job of it. Anyway, to cut a long story short, Ric found out, went mad and fired him (but not before Malick trashed the ward sister's office!) Whilst Malick was being fired, Jake, was being beaten up by the girls dad, causing him to cut his wrist badly and bleeding profusely. In the end, Malick and Jake, having put their problems behind them, left Holby in the back of a black cab to the tune of 'I Feel Good' by James Brown.
Over on Darwin, Jonny and Bonnie were organising a collection for Elliot's Silver Jubilee in surgery. At first, Zosia wouldn't play ball which led to both nurses playing tricks on her (though one of the highlights of the episode was seeing Elliot lose his temper with them both). Zosia had other things to worry about though as throughout the episode she kept receiving strange phone calls from someone called Guy. Coincidentally, the new CEO of Holby General is called Guy, so only time will tell if he is the same Guy that was calling her!!
Talking of the new CEO, he certainly made his mark on Holby; he got under Serena's skin straight away, but then anyone who tries to tell Serena how to do something is going to wind her up!! He ended up giving her an ultimatum - either play ball or jump ship; but as she told him, she doesn't do threat's very well so I can see there being an interesting work relationship between these two.
I can't work out what is going on with Edward; he made a mistake on ordering the blood for an operation - he didn't ask Mary Claire to order enough - and yet somehow, he managed to persuade MC to take the fallout. He's definitely up to something and not in a good way. I just hope Mary Claire doesn't get too caught up in it.
Whilst there was a fair bit of Dr T action, he didn't say much at all Hopefully, the writers will give him lots more to say next week, though the week after that, I think Harry will be saying a lot (though I can't say why...)
That's my thoughts on the episode - bit all over the place really. What did you think of it? Tell us below......
