This week's episode featured a mixture of emotions - from Chantelle's apprehension of her first day back on the ward to the laughter on AAU, with a bit of Zosia arrogance thrown in for good measure. And as this episode was the Halloween episode, you had a few extra's dressed up in the obligatory Halloween costumes.
The episode opened with Chantelle and Arthur walking into work; Digby very sweetly gave Chantelle a good luck bird to help calm her down. As they rounded the corner they were confronted with a group of students dressed up in a vast array of costumes. To help her ease back into the job, Serena had assigned Chantelle to only do admin work; however, Malick ended up assigning her to a patient who was suffering from abdominal pains. After some tests had been carried out, Chantelle mistakenly told said patients boyfriend that his girlfriend was pregnant; she did this to cheer the guy up as he had tried to propose and been turned down. What Chantelle hadn't realised was that the girl wasn't pregnant, but that she was suffering from a mass in her womb which only showed up when she and Malick did a scan; Mr T came to the rescue but unfortunately, the girl died. Chantelle was shaken up by it all, and you can see the events of a few weeks ago are still playing on her mind; Digby hasn't picked up on this as yet, though I'm sure when he does realise he will feel guilty and blame himself for the crash even though she has told him it was an accident. But for now, oblivious to her true feelings, he said he'd let her watch Glee to cheer her up.
Over on Darwin, Zosia was being a very annoying F1; whilst in surgery with Elliot, she was seen by Jonny rolling her eyes. When Jonny called her out on it, she told him that surgery was just plumbing. She soon changed her mind when one of the students was admitted to the ward suffering from a major heart complaint. Elliot tried to tell Zosia to leave alone and that nothing could be done to save the young man's life, but somehow, she managed to pressure him into using the Hertzig 4 on the lad.
AAU was the lucky ward to have the rest of the students, with one in particular standing out from the crowd - Cat Lady (and by that I mean she was a young lady dressed up in a PVC cat outfit - see the screen grabs). This girl took quite a fancy to Harry (Dr Handsome), who 'played' along with her flirty-ness. Mary Claire was unimpressed - at the beginning of the episode you could see she still liked Harry to the point of asking him to be her 'plus one' at her sisters wedding in Ireland (he was a bit reluctant at first, especially when told it wasn't going to be a dirty weekend, but when he saw the venue he agreed to go as just 'friends'). However, upon seeing how Cat Lady was with all the men on the ward - a bit like Mary Claire, just not as full on - she realised that going with Harry was probably not the best idea in the world. So after imparting some words of advice to Cat Lady - "You've got to wait for the right guy, not the guy right in front of you" - she told Harry she had spoken to her sister and told her she would be going to the wedding on her own.
Another great episode with a nice bit of Dr T action (make the most of it though as I fear he may not be in the next few episodes as much). I also don't quite see where the writers are going with Zosia at the moment, but I'm looking forward to seeing how her character develops (just as long as they don't try to turn her into a mini Jac!)
So what did you all think of the episode? You know what to do.....
