So this week's episode had a mixture of drama and light relief. The drama revolved around Hanssen/Malick on Keller and Chrissie on AAU whilst the light relief came in the form of Jac and Jonny.
Hanssen and Malick were given the task of looking after a young boy with CF; well actually Hanssen was, Malick was tasked with observing Hanssen at work! The poor boy was asking after his mum; his dad was being secretive and the boy had found a letter from his mum that his dad had hidden from him. At one point the poor lad was left on his own in the ward but luckily for him, his dad had left his mobile behind; so this led to the boy sneaking off to the stairwell and calling his mum before collapsing. The mother soon arrived and tried taking the boy out of the hospital resulting in another collapse, this time in the car park. This allowed Hanssen to shout at the mother before taking the boy into surgery; but whilst in there noticed that his hands were shaking so handed the reins over over to Malick before leaving theatre and heading back to his office. It ended with Hanssen promoting Malick to consultant. As the actor who plays Hanssen is due to be leaving our screens in the not to distant future, I think the shaky hands is a sign of things to come.
Meanwhile on Darwin, Jonny and Jac were about to take their very first parenting class after deciding to keep the baby. Before they went to said class, the were both left holding the baby - literally speaking - as a patient was bought in unconscious and no relative to look after her baby so the paramedic handed her over to Jonny; he then handed her over to Jac who joked about putting the baby out on the fire escape if she made any noise. However, when Jonny and Mo found Jac in her office, they were both surprised to see the baby fast asleep (even if she was in a cardboard box!) Then came the class; Jac took pleasure in correcting the class leader on certain medical terms when it comes to giving birth, telling a fellow attendee that she didn't need to eat for two and so on. What she didn't hear, but Jonny did, was the leader and few class members slagging her off; if she had she wouldn't have batted an eyelid but she would have withdrawn into herself. Jonny though stood up for her and showed us the viewer just how much he loves her. Something tells me though that they won't be going back to that particular class!!
Down on AAU, Chrissie is still insistent on carrying on with her usual workload despite receiving treatment for her cancer. She took charge of a very bolshy young girl who had had some liposuction so she could have a 'thigh gap'! This resulted in her getting an infection which she really didn't like. She did perk up when she spotted Harry (yes Jules actually made an appearance!!) but was still a madam whenever Chrissie and Mary Claire were around. In the end, the workload proved too much for Chrissie and she ended up collapsing on the ward and was admitted so she could rest under Sacha's watchful gaze. I have to admit that my favourite bit of the episode was after Chrissie's collapse, when Harry did his 'rock star knee slide' across the floor!!
So that's what I thought of the episode, now lets see what you have to say......
